Transfer to Bigfoot Youth Cycle Club Ltd

posted 30 Oct 2018, 02:56 by Phil Shemmings   [ updated 29 Nov 2018, 02:44 ]
On 18 August, the club's EGM unanimously decided to move the club's activities from being run by an 'unincorporated' organisation to an 'incorporated' Company Limited by Guarantee. The reason for the change was to enable to club itself (rather than individual committee members) to enter into contracts and hold assets on behalf of the club. Full details about the EGM and the proposal are on the website here.
From Monday 29 October all the membership, activities, contracts, assets and key organisational documents have moved from Bigfoot Go-Ride to Bigfoot Youth Cycle Club Ltd, and Bigfoot Go-Ride will now be wound up.
How does it affect you? And what do you need to do?
There is no need for anyone participating in the club to do anything.

  • The club will continue to be run by volunteers and be non-profit making.
  • The fees set for this season will stay the same.
  • The venues we are using will stay the same, as will the dates and times of all sessions.
  • You'll still see the same familiar faces among the coaches, welfare officers and other volunteers.
  • Our plan for coaching and non-coaching activities (rides, outings and races) remains the same.

Should you be interested the Memorandum and Articles of Association of Bigfoot Youth Cycle Club Ltd, plus its Special Resolutions (that guide our objectives and procedures) can be found here.
Although there will be some changes behind the scenes to our bank account and our club membership database these should have very little impact on you as club members - we'll keep you posted if anything changes.

Membership and Volunteer Involvement

We have always been keen to get parents, coaches and volunteers involved in helping to run the activities of our club and this remains the case with Bigfoot Youth Cycle Club Ltd. We are keen to have representatives at our meetings from parents, coaches and our Youth members. Interested? Would like to know more? Please contact:
