Robert Mills wins Hugh Webb award 2016

posted 3 Jan 2017, 11:00 by Bigfoot Go-Ride
Our friends at Bigfoot CC have kindly donated us an award, to be presented each year to one young rider in our club in recognition of their outstanding achievement or contribution. The award is named after Hugh Webb, a long-time and inspirational member of Bigfoot CC.
The winner of the award is determined by the Bigfoot Go-Ride Committee after nominations from our adult volunteers.
And the winner of the Hugh Webb Award 2016 is Robert Mills, congratulations!
Robert joined Bigfoot Go-Ride in the autumn of 2011, aged 12, and has been an active member of the club for the past five years. His cycling abilities (and height!) have grown over that period. He's a cyclist with a true "have a go" spirit that has seen him on road bikes, mountain bikes and BMX bikes.

Along with maturing as a cyclist and young man he is also well recognised for being a friendly and helpful club member. Robert has now developed his talents through volunteering, helping with the younger riders in the club. He has achieved the British Cycling Young Volunteer Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold). Last year saw him also be selected for and taking part in British Cycling's National Talent Camp (Officiating). He has now qualified as a British Cycling Level 1 coach, and no doubt would move on to Level 2 – if only British Cycling did not have an age restriction! Again, congratulations Robert – he is an asset for our club!

Robert Mills

This was a very hard decision to make, as there are so many other young riders who share many of these qualities – and so we are also recognising and highly commending the following members (in alphabetical order):

Nathan Alexander
Matthew Brogan
Jacob Chambers
Henry Davies
Joseph Harris
Ian Hudson
Albert Peate
Roisin Smith
Seb Szarzynski
Sam Ward
Rachel Young
Sannah Zaman
Irfan Zaman

And there are so many other wonderful young cyclists in our club – so thank you to one and all!
